Inspiration

Where does it come from? Today was the first day in a LONG time that I felt like myself. The first time, in a long time, that I woke up ready to grab life by the neck a make it give me what I want.

I don't know why or how I lost my edge. I don't know how or why I got it back today but damn I am glad I did. Maybe it was the visit with a couple of great friends on Saturday. I hope they know how much they mean to me. (They do. We just don't have to talk about it.) Maybe it was the conversation with a former sponsored bodybuilder and realizing that he goes through the same shit I do. Whatever it is, thank you Lord for blessing me and letting me get back to where I belong.

I love this feeling. Euphoria doesn't even begin to describe the way I feel.

Conditioning (sucks)

Couldn't sleep past 3:30 so I got up and did some conditioning. Started with a 600 meter row on the concept 2 row machine. Next was farmer's walks with 120 lbs dumbbells in each hand. I made a total of about 100 yards in total. Then I did about 20 minutes on the treadmill for some fat burn. All of this was done fasted. I'll break the fast about 11:30 this morning.

Inspiration and some squats

Got a late start today but it was a great start. I stayed out a little late last night and then stayed up even later watching Mr. Olympia coverage online. While bodybuilding is not my thing, I respect the sacrifices those guys make to achieve their goals. I was happy to see Flex Lewis achieve his dream and win the 212 lbs class. Phil Heath won Mr. Olympia and deserved it. I had really hoped to see Kai Greene win. Kai is an incredibly inspirational person. If you have a chance Google some of his videos and read his story.

Inspiration can come from a lot of places. Mine today came from a friend on Twitter. I broke a rule and actually read social media before I went to the gym. A friend remarked she was on her second work out of the morning in a conversation. I replied to her and then got off the couch. If she can do two workouts, I can do mine  with furious vengeance.

I did a lot of mobility work and stretching before my session. I warmed up well and then went like hell. I will say my second set was complete shit though. Got out of the groove and nearly lost it.

Squats 5/3/1 75%, 85%, 95%(x5)
Stiff legged deadlifts 4x8.
Ab work.

Nothing to write about

What a shitty session. Could never get tight cause of lower back pain and stunk the place up. I had planned on a good bench press session and a long post about confidence. I'll work on both for later.

Deadlifts and Socrates

Another day in the gym. Today was a deadlift day so I worked up to 95% x 4. The did some squats and ab work. Talked to a couple of the other meatheads and made some plans for the weekend.

Those of you that know me from social media may have noticed I have been a little scarce lately. Nothing has been wrong, I have just been taking a break from the forum. It's good to sit back and analyze one's self and your place in the world. Socrates said,  " ὁ δὲ ἀνεξέταστος βίος οὐ βιωτὸς ἀνθρώπῳ" which translates to "The unexamined life is not worth living for a human being." I take breaks from time to time and examine my life in all aspects and see where I can make improvements. Also some of the minutiae that we all share bores me.
